Chillingham Road, Shields Road and Gosforth High Street are full of flats above shops with one narrow staircase. We take doors off hinges and take furniture apart where we have to.
A yard, a garden or a garage
Bags of garden waste, old fence panels, a shed that has come down, soil and rubble. We can take it from the back lane without you being in, once the price and the access are agreed.
The council option
Should you just use the council?
For one or two items, almost certainly yes. Newcastle City Council charges £10 for a large item with 25 per cent off at the moment, and nobody with a van is going to beat that for a single sofa. We would rather tell you than take the job. Where it changes is a mixed load, because the council charges for every item separately, and if you are a landlord it will not take your waste at all.

Council prices and rules read from new.newcastle.gov.uk on 19 September 2026, including the 25 per cent discount, which the council describes as current rather than permanent. Check it before you book. Their number is 0191 278 7878.
What does a three piece suite actually cost?
The honest answer is that you cannot tell from the price list. The council publishes five bands but does not say which everyday items fall into which one, so you only find out when you reach the booking form.

That is not a criticism of the price, which is low. It is the reason people ring us to ask, and it is why our price is one number for the whole load however it is made up.
Landlords and letting agents
The council will not take landlord waste
This is worth knowing before you book anything. Newcastle City Council's bulky waste page says landlords and managing agents need to make their own arrangements for bulky item disposal. It is a domestic service only, and crews can reject a collection if they think it is landlord waste. You then pay again to rebook.
We take it. Most of our Newcastle work in July and August is end of tenancy in Jesmond, Heaton, Sandyford and Fenham, where a flat has to be emptied between one let and the next. Send photos, take the fixed price, and we can collect with keys if you are not local.
You do not need to be there
Agree the price and the access first and we can collect with keys. A lot of our landlord work is done this way.
One price for the whole flat
One fixed price rather than a charge for every item. Useful when you are billing it on to somebody else.
Paperwork if you need it
We are an Upper Tier registered carrier and we keep the waste transfer notes. Ask and we will send you a copy.

What does rubbish removal cost in Newcastle?
There is no price list, because no two loads are the same. Two things set the price and nothing else does.
How much van space it needs
A few bags is not the same as a full three piece suite. Your photos tell us which.
The run from Gateshead
Our yard is in Gateshead, so Newcastle is minutes away over the river. The price covers the journey there and back.
What never changes the price
Stairs do not change it, and neither do back lanes or how long the carrying takes. Taking large furniture apart is the only extra, at £20 an item.

Same day collection is available when we have a slot free. It is not a promise for every job, and we will tell you straight away if we cannot do it.

Our licence is CBDU523317 and it is Upper Tier, which is the level councils ask for. You can look it up on the Environment Agency public register, and we would rather you did.
Reused or donated
Furniture in good condition and white goods that still work. We do not buy anything from you and we do not pay cash.
Sorted and recycled
Metal, wood, cardboard and green waste are separated and go for recycling rather than to landfill.
Licensed disposal
The rest goes to a licensed transfer station and we keep the transfer notes. Ask and we will send you a copy.

They were very fast, safe, and handled my massive American-style fridge-freezer with zero issues. Questions about rubbish removal in Newcastle
How much does Newcastle City Council charge to collect bulky rubbish?
At the time of writing it is £10 for a large item, £20 for up to eight small items, £40 for a heavy item and £70 for a special large item, with 25 per cent off at the checkout. For one sofa that is very hard to beat and we will say so. It stops being good value once you have a mixed load, because every item is charged separately.
Is it cheaper than the council?
Not for one or two items. The council is cheaper and we would rather tell you that than take the job. We work out better on a mixed load, when something is heavy or awkward, when it has to come from upstairs or a loft, or when you are a landlord and the council will not take it at all.

What is the cheapest way to get rid of a lot of rubbish?
If you can load it and drive it yourself, the tip is cheapest. If you cannot, it is a straight choice between a skip and a van. A skip usually wins on heavy building waste. A van usually wins on household rubbish and furniture, and there is no permit and nothing sitting on your drive for a week.
Do you need to come and look first?
No. The photos are the visit. That is why you get a price the same day rather than waiting in for somebody to call round and measure up.
Can you come the same day?
Often, yes. Send photos early in the day. If you accept the price and we have a slot free we will come the same day. It depends on what is already booked, so it is not a promise for every job.
What will you not take?
Asbestos, paint, chemicals, gas bottles, tyres and fridges with the gas still in them need specialist disposal, so we cannot put them in the van. Tell us if you have any of those and we will point you to who can.
